Hearts and Homes for Veterans, Inc. is a Florida nonprofit corporation that was created on March 25, 2013. Its purpose is to support homeless veterans, and their families, who find themselves without the necessities of everyday life.

Hearts and Homes for Veterans is committed to empowering these veterans to lift themselves out of poverty and then, in turn, reach back and help other veterans do the same.

 

Their Philosophy

Low income and very low income Veterans should not pay more than 30% of their gross income on housing, and our units are priced with this in mind. There are many factors that come into play in determining the rental rate, such as the Veteran’s health care costs, employment status, and debt.

We stand ready to help, providing services to meet the needs of our Veterans. We use our time, talent and donations to support Veterans’ causes in Lee County.

 

Goals

-To provide subsidized housing to very low, low, and medium income Veterans

-Provide homeless Veterans with transitional and permanent housing, food and support they need in finding employment, as well as transportation to V.A. clinic, job interviews, and to apply for benefits

-To support and help all needy Veterans with disabilities by providing the means to attain and modify housing

-Helping our returning Veterans to repatriate back into our community as active and productive citizens

Brian Chapman

About Brian

Brian Chapman, Jr. is a lifelong resident of Southwest Florida and one of three siblings in his family to graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). In 2009, Brian founded Chapman Insurance Group, a Southwest Florida Independent Insurance agency that provides insurance products for both commercial and residential insurance in Florida. Brian was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in 2011 to the Board of Trustees at Florida Southwestern State College and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees until 2018. He and his wife, Julie, are parents to their five beautiful children Cade, Ellie, Ty, Adlie, and Oaklie and are currently residence in Fort Myers in the Whiskey Creek community.

Brian is active in his church, local little league, and loves the “salt life” that Southwest Florida offers.
