Trading Account Withdrawals

Trading account withdrawals (TAW) are withdrawals of funds from your trading account investment to your Midland account. You will request the trading account withdrawal through Midland.

Futures trading account companies include TradeStation, Oanda, FC Stone, TD Ameritrade, Dorman, Forex, TransAct*, Phillip Futures, RCG*, and Interactive Brokers*.

*For these companies, you need to contact them to complete their withdrawal requirements in addition to requesting the trading account withdrawal through Midland.

Important Things to Remember

Be sure you are no longer trading in your futures account. You must be in a cash position before you request a Trading Account Withdrawal (TAW).

If you are currently invested in a futures account, and funds are needed to complete a distribution, transfer, or rollover, you first need to request a Trading Account Withdrawal (TAW).

Steps for Trading Account Transfers, Rollovers, and Distributions

Step 1

Submit a TAW request in your Midland360 portal (see instructions below).

Step 2

Contact the receiving custodian for a transfer form.

Contact the receiving custodian for a letter of acceptance. Then complete the Midland distribution form.

Wait for the funds to come in from the TAW and then submit a distribution request in your Midland360 portal.

Step 3

Once the funds return to Midland from your trading account and we have transfer paperwork or a distribution request, we will send the funds over to the new custodian or to you directly.

For complete IRA transfer out & distribution information, visit our Transfer Services page.

Expected Use of Funds

When you submit a TAW, you will identify the expected use of funds. Your options may include but not limited to:

Take IRA Distribution

If distributing funds to your personal account, you need to request a distribution. This is in addition to a trading account withdrawal.

Transfer to a Brokerage Custodian for Traditional Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds

Select this option when you are moving funds to a regular IRA. Regular IRAs include Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Merrill Lynch, Edward Jones, or TradeStation Equities.

Transfer to Another Self Directed Custodian for Alternative Assets

Select this option when you are moving funds to another self-directed IRA custodian.
